The Myth of Site-of-Care Shift
Emergency Department Use Rates Defy Expert Predictions
For years, a narrative has been pushed to our clients that site-of-care shifts are causing emergency department use rates to decrease, and they will continue to do so. Over that timespan, our clients have repeatedly opted against using declines in ED use rate as we've developed volume projections with them. This dissonance begged the question: is site of care shift a myth? We investigated to find out.
